Steady start
When starting a car, the clutch gradually engages to eliminate the speed difference between the engine and the stationary transmission system, avoiding engine stalling or sudden forward acceleration of the vehicle. For example, when the driver releases the clutch pedal, the friction plate gradually comes into contact with the flywheel, and power is smoothly transmitted from zero to the driving wheels.
Smooth gear shifting
When shifting gears, the clutch temporarily cuts off the power connection between the engine and the gearbox, eliminating gear meshing impact and protecting the gearbox gears. If the clutch is not disengaged and the gear is shifted directly, there will be severe impact between the gears due to the speed difference, resulting in gear wear or damage.
Transmission system protection
When the transmission system is subjected to sudden high torque (such as emergency braking), the clutch uses a slip mechanism to prevent damage to engine components. For example, during sudden braking, the wheel speed drops sharply, while the engine maintains high-speed rotation due to inertia. Clutch slippage can prevent the transmission system from being overloaded.
